Welcome!

I am an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Political Science at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan. My existing research examines various facets of the rule of law, including judicial independence, corruption, and equality before the law, generally in the context of Eastern European/post-communist politics. While still interested in these matters, my current major research project focuses on the uses of law and violence to suppress Black political participation in the post-Reconstruction American South.

I am co-founder and co-director (with Philosopher Renaud-Philippe Garner) of UBC Open Inquiry, the Heterodox Academy Campus Community at UBC Okanagan.

My papers are available by clicking on the research link above, and you can find me on Google Scholar.
