I am an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Political Science at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan. My research and teaching interests focus on law and politics and institutions. I have done research work on the rule of law for the American Bar Foundation and the World Justice Project, and during the 2012-13 academic year I was a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute.
I earned a PhD in Political Science from the University of Washington. Prior to my return to the Pacific Northwest, I was an assistant professor at the University of South Carolina, where I received the Michael J. Mungo Award for Undergraduate Teaching, becoming the first Political Scientist at South Carolina to win university-wide recognition for excellence in teaching.
Previously, I obtained an MA in Russian Studies from the European University, St. Petersburg, and a BA in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
